SITELY

If you know me pretty well, you would know that anything .hack//G.U. was inevitable. It was one of my favorite games from the PlayStation 2 and still remains one of my favorite. I always hoped that the fanlisting itself would become free so I could apply, but I never held my breath on it. I always figured I would never get approved and it would always go to someone else that might not have the same passion for the series as myself. I confess, I'm a little egotistical in how strongly I feel compared to other fans. This project would have never really become possible if I never got the approval, and not only do I want it to become a good tribute to the series, but a portal to other G.U. based sites I'll be creating.

I'm a strange person at heart. I enjoy discovering what makes people tick and how relationships are formed. I always felt that the .hack series itself was the epitamey of how relationships form over other communications methods besides the standard face-to-face method and it inspired some of my research papers for my communication classes. Seeing how each one is developed and how it responds to other forces keeps me interested. Not only that but the plot and characters themselves kept me glued to my PS2; Haseo is someone everyone can relate to in one way or another and seeing him soften over time through the connections made really tugs at the heart strings. People root not just for him, but the other characters too and want nothing more than happy endings for them. Those are just a few of the reasons why I love it.

Itself

Synchronicity began its contruction in the wee early days of January of 2008 after my approval. My main focus was not just uniting fans but to provide at least some information on the series and characters. I didn't want to create anything too big since the series is ever growing and my time is limited. I would prefer to stick to what I can manage and get crazy a little later. However as I began to think, I decided it would be amazing if I could not only double it as a mini-tribute/fanlisting but as a portal to my other G.U. sites as well. It would become my first triple threat and a project that would keep me going despite the series ending.

The name itself, similar to my other G.U. projects, was not based off a title or lyric from a song. Rather it came up when I was playing with the layout. I remembered what Pi said in both the anime and game: Epitaph Users and their Players are connected and what the Player feels, the character feels. I felt this was fitting not just for the 8 Epitaph Users, but players as well. We're all synched with our characters in one way or another so the title fit.

Layout

This version you're looking at is version one. The image is actually from a scan of the third and final installment for the .hack//G.U. series scanned by... someone? I'm terrible because I've had this image on my computer for ages and I can't remember, but if you do know, please inform me! The brushes came from Aethereality.
