Storylines

.hack//G.U. is a three volume game series that has spawned a hit series known as .hack//Roots, a manga series released as .hack//G.U.+, as well as a CG movie - a remix from the original three games. The game is rated T for Teens and is for the game platform PlayStation 2.

Volume 1 - Rebirth

The same day he began playing the hit game, The World R:2, Haseo is merciless attacked by PKers, but is saved by an eccentric player who goes by the name of Ovan and is quickly befriended by a young Harvest Cleric named Shino. Little does he know that meeting this man would turn his life around - for beter and worse.

Eight months later Haseo is left alone; Ovan has mysteriously vanished, Shino has become a Lost One and remains in a coma in the real world, and the few friends he had left the game. He emerges from a special event with newfound powers and becomes a Player Killer Killer known simply as, "The Terror of Death", hunting down Player Killers and looking for information on Tri-Edge, the one who placed Shino into her coma. After finally encountering the player, Haseo is drained of his power and returned to his former level 1 self. However a new power is born, a power that had been sleeping inside of him until Tri-Edge awoken it.

He is able to summon a power entity known simple as an Epitaph and it draws the attention of a secret guild known only as G.U.. Promised information regarding Tri-Edge and Shino's state, Haseo searches for a truth of what's occuring within the game, but finds more than he's ready to accept.

Volume 2 - Reminisce

After defeating the powerful force Tri-Edge, Haseo's friend Atoli is attacked by anomoly known as AIDA, which has not only left her right hand paralized, but stolen her Epitaph. She is clued in on the mysertious happenings within the game and not only does the group realize that AIDA's power has grown, but that they have become one with The World and cannot log out. Mass hysteria rages through the game and even the System Administrators can't figure out what's happening.

Infections become spred throughout the game and not only have infected the game, but the players and guilds running throughout. Haseo is informed by Ovan that the Operations Folder holds the key to logging out and Haseo briefly encounters Tri-Edge's companions.

Now not only does Haseo have to find a cure for Atoli and Shino, but try and find what the creature he knows as Tri-Edge really is and who his companion's really are.

Volume 3 - Redemption

Anomalies and infections are becoming more of a problem within The World and spreading quickly across the network. While Haseo and his friends struggle to figure out a way to defeat the true Tri-Edge, a new danger continues to grow and hold a possible destruction for the game that they know.
